Targeting automotive applications the TruckPAD Car PC has been approved with an e-Mark certification. This TruckPAD System has been designed for telematic and map-navigation applications, offering high shock resistance and low power consumption of max. 20W from 12V and 24V sources. Combinded with GPS position engine and UMTS/HSDPA module it can be used for tracking and controlling truck operation and routing. Actual position and operating conditions are known for every vehicle at every time. Firmware updates and upload of operating data can be done using Wireless LAN when the vehicle returns to base location. The TruckPAD system is divided in two major components. The TruckPAD itself is a Touch Panel PC with an integrated 10.1" Display. WLAN and Bluetooth is implemented for connectivity, operating on internal antennas. Three USB slots provide different connection options, as well as an Express Card 34 slot. Further a microSD card reader is placed on the top of the case. The TruckPAD comes with a VESA mount, which can provide power supply and other connectivity. When the vehicle is parked, the driver can easy take-out the TruckPAD system, and carry it in the hand. Running on batteries it is usable for several mobile applications. The second component is the DaqBox (for Data Acquisition Box). This box takes power from the vehicle battery, and provides the TruckPAD with +12V DC, regulated and protected as required on vehicles. The connection to TruckPAD may be up to 5m cable length. The vehicle driver does not need to touch the DaqBox, so it can be mounted in a protected location. The DaqBox connects to the VESA mount of TruckPAD by a high-speed HDMI cable. On the same cable the DaqBox is connected via USB 2.0, thus connecting several functions to the TruckPAD. These functions include a USB ports, a RS232 serial port, a CAN interface and several Input/Output sub-functions. A certain input signal is connected to the ignition key, and will start/stop TruckPAD when the vehicle ignition is turned on or off.
